This is a Pfaltzgraff America pattern charger, serivce plate, or platter with an ostrich and flower design in the center. America was made by Pfaltzgraff for the Museum of American Folk Art, so they are marked with Pfaltzgraff and MAFA backstamps. This one has a long explanation of the America motifs coming from a Bird of Paradise pattern antique quilt. The charger is 12 1/8" wide. The plate has a blue sponge painted rim, and the center design looks like sponged versions of quilt blocks. Pfaltzgraff produced America between 1983-1989.
