This is a vintage Depression era glass cake stand decorated by the Lotus company in their Brocade pattern with gold trim. Brocade is an acid etched ornate design of scrolls and flowers. The cake stand has a scalloped rim. The Lotus company bought plain, blank pieces of glass from high-quality glass manufacturers and then decorated them. In the 1960s, Lotus merged with Glastonbury and now all of their work is known as Glastonbury-Lotus. This cake stand was originally produced by New Martinsville in the 1930s. It is called the Princess stem. The cake stand is 10 5/8" wide and 5" tall. It is in very good to excellent condition. There is wear to the gold trim on the scalloped edge.
