This is a vintage early 1900s hand painted cabinet plate, painted with ripe and unripe blackberries still on the bush among green leaves. The plate has a cream-yellow-green-red fade wash background and a wide band of gold trim. The painting is not signed. The backstamp is green and reads Imperial PSL Empire Austria with a tiny crown under the word Imperial. PSL is for Pfeiffer & Lowenstein, they were located in Schlackenwerth Austria between 1914-1918.
Painting china was a popular hobby in the early 1900s and was also done professionally in decorating studios. Since there is no studio mark or artist signature, this is probably the work of an amateur. It is higher quality than most amateur work I have seen.
The plate is 9 1/8" wide. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
